How Does Distribution Work?

On Farm Shares:

  • Please park in the designated parking area by the road. There is very limited parking next to the barn for those who are unable to walk from the parking area to the barn.
  • Upon arriving at the barn, check off your name on the sign in sheet under the appropriate week.
  • The produce will be displayed market style in our distribution area. Members will be given reusable share bags at the beginning of the season, can fill one plastic grocery bag with the items of your choice. Members with full shares may fill two bags.
  • one size for half shares and one size for full shares. If you forget your share bag, we have plastic bags available.
  • Some items in short supply may individually limited. Watch for signs next to each item. If an item is not limited, you may take as much or as little as you like, while limiting the overall amount to your share size (1 bag for half shares, 2 bags for whole shares).
  • Pick-Your-Own Crops: Most weeks during the season, there will be something in the Pick-Your-Own area ready for harvesting. Watch for signage in the field indicating what is available, where it is, and how to pick it. The pick-your-own crops are available anytime during daylight hours. Members are welcome to harvest the pick-your-own crops when you come for distribution or at another time that may be more convenient.
  • We sell a few items from other local farms on a cash basis. These include sweet corn, apples, honey, maple syrup, beef, ice cream, goat cheese, milk, yogurt, and cookbooks.
  • There will always be a staff member on duty during distribution to answer questions.

West Hartford Shares:

  • The pick up location will be at 16 Willowbrook Rd in West Hartford. Willowbrook Rd is off of Fern St which is off of Mountain Rd about .3 mile north of Farmington Avenue.
  • The pick up time will be Tuesdays 4PM-7PM.
  • Upon arriving at 16 Willowbrook Rd, park on the road and enter the garage.
  • Check off your name on the sign in sheet under the appropriate week.
  • There will be two stacks of boxes, one for full shares, one for half. Select the appropriate box.
  • We pack the boxes as identically as possible. You are welcome to leave items you dont want on the leftovers table. They will be donated to a soup kitchen. Do not take items from other members boxes. The West Hartford drop off is an honor based system and can only work with the honesty of all involved.
  • There will not be a staff member on duty during the duration of the distribution time. We simply deliver the boxes by 4 PM.
  • Please be considerate of the privacy and property of Leora and David, the owners of the drop off site. They have requested that all boxes be picked up by 7PM. Please direct all questions or concerns to Sam at the farm.
  • Please return the collapsed empty vegetable boxes from the previous week so that we can reuse them. The boxes are designed to be collapsed without ripping. If they are ripped, they cannot be reused.
